Elandra 53
Australia
Elandra Yachts was an important foundation in the FiveBlade story. From 2012 to 2016, founder Tom Barry-Cotter worked within Elandra’s small, highly involved team, gaining hands-on experience across far more than design alone. In a semi-custom, low-volume production environment, he contributed to a wide array of design responsibilities, while also supporting the brand’s marketing operations through developing design specific marketing strategy, working exhibitions, engaging with customers, media, and stakeholders. This close connection between design, production, and market helped shape FiveBlade’s belief that successful products come from aligning market insight, demands and design vision with strategic market positioning.

Creating a High-Value Boutique Yacht with Enduring Market Appeal
For the Elandra 53, the ambition was to create a highly refined product that could compete at the top of the market through quality, performance and design clarity. The strategy was to closely assess the leading sales models across Australia and New Zealand, then develop a vessel that combined and elevated the strongest attributes of the category. The result was a bespoke premium offering that delivered immediate market appeal and has continued to strengthen its reputation over time.Crafted a Boutique Product with Clear Market Intent
The Elandra 53 was developed as a strategically positioned, high-quality offering within the luxury motor yacht market. Rather than follow existing conventions, the design process focused on understanding the broader competitive landscape and identifying the features that resonated most strongly with buyers. This enabled the creation of a product that not only matched the category leaders, but aimed to surpass them through a more resolved and premium overall package.Built Strong Brand Prestige and Customer Aspiration
The Elandra 53 developed a strong sense of status and desirability, helping establish the brand as a premium name within the market. Ownership by high-profile customers reinforced the vessel’s aspirational appeal and contributed to its visibility as a product associated with quality, taste and distinction.Achieved Lasting Relevance Beyond Initial Launch
The Elandra 53 has demonstrated enduring design relevance, remaining visually and commercially compelling in the resale market well over a decade after launch. Its performance credentials have also continued to stand out against vessels of similar size and power, supporting its reputation as a product of genuine substance rather than short-term market appeal.
