Racing design is embedded in FiveBlade’s DNA. Founder Tom Barry-Cotter has spent more than 20 years competing in offshore powerboat racing at an international level, building rare expertise as both a UIM World Champion driver and designer. FiveBlade experience covers XCAT, Superstock, Supercat, and Class One, supported by multiple national and international championship successes.
That background brings deep practical knowledge of high-performance hull design, construction methods, lamination design, and cockpit safety. It also fuels FiveBlade’s passion for future racing, performance, and patrol projects where proven experience, technical understanding, and real-world competitive insight can create a genuine advantage.

2018-2019 | Maritimo R30 XCAT
Delivered Proven Championship Performance
The Maritimo Racing R30 established itself as a dominant design from its first competitive outing. Securing pole position and a second-place finish in its debut event, the platform quickly went on to win both a UIM XCAT World Championship and a UIM Pole Position Championship. With victories in 50% of events entered and podium finishes in more than 83% of its races, the R30 demonstrated exceptional consistency, competitiveness and race-winning capability.Redefined Performance Through Technical Circuit Advantage
Rather than being driven purely by top speed and acceleration, the R30 was designed around handling performance and race suitability for the more technical circuits of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. This contrasted with many competitor designs developed around American conditions and longer, less complex courses. The result was a clear cornering-speed advantage, with the Maritimo R30 at times exiting high-speed sweeper turns with up to a 20 mph advantage over competing designs.Raised the Benchmark for Driver Safety
The R30 was developed to exceed UIM safety requirements, incorporating construction and design innovations that significantly improved driver protection beyond minimum compliance. This commitment to safety was not treated as a constraint, but as an integrated part of the performance brief – ensuring the platform delivered both competitive advantage and greater confidence for its drivers.
